The color palette of artist Ken Garduno is pulled from the beach-tropic and bright sun of his native Los Angeles. Each painting is a flash through the ever-shifting rainbow of California’s golden coast. Garduno’s work is fearless — a skilled painter, Garduno avoids simple photo-realism for a Fauvist’s bent towards the unknown. His tools are as varied as his techniqes. Brush, marker, crayon, paint applied with all manner of chaos and precision.
Garduno has always maintained that classic infatuation with the female portrait, and with his first solo exhibit at Austin’s Mondo Gallery that subject will be ever present. ‘The Art of Ken Garduno‘ will find the artist at the center of the gallery with over thirty portraits of women, the largest being a 4′ x 6’ canvas alongside a series of mix media works on 8″ x 10″ paper.
