Peak Beauty: The Art of Cartoon Saloon

The films of Ireland-based animation studio Cartoon Saloon adhere to the history of the fable, narrative-wise and also visually. They are designed with a folk art spin on classic 2D animation — a picture book given life. In their quartet of award-winning animated films, The Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea, The Breadwinner, and WolfWalkers, each moment hangs on the screen like an illuminated text — you can read each frame.

The Cartoon Saloon Art Gallery has a curated selection of art from their films available as limited edition prints, the ghost glow of the Wolf Spirit in WolfWalkers, the cathedral-like entrance to the forest in The Secret of Kells  — each print a moment of peak beauty, suspended between glass and frame.
