East Coast based artist Alaina Varrone mainly works in embroidery, crafting intimate and modern folk art. Her focus shifts from girl gangs to the summer fueled antics of wild youth. She is a keen observer of behavior, filling her compositions with characters fully embracing their own odd reality.
For an artist working in an incredibly time consuming medium that does not allow for easy reproduction, the original work is a precious item. Varrone has taken two of her embroideries and repurposed her designs as affordable soft enamel pins. In the form of a lapel pin, her powerful visions take on a new life as bright personal decoration.
