A Brief Look: The Muted Shine of Randy Ortiz

Canadian based illustrator Randy Ortiz is an artist of shifting styles — each piece feels new. Fresh. Ortiz takes a different approach, depending on desired mood. Tone. Theme.

Whether he’s using digital tools or traditional pen and ink, there’s always a sharp intelligence to his drawings. Ortiz has taken on a number of films for Skuzzles, Grey Matter Art, and Mondo. Each time he’s brought a muted shine to properties like ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘ and ‘Gremlins,’ shaping those tales into something unique and wonderful.

Beyond his commercial work sits his piece one of my all-time favorites, ‘The Painful Sound of Talking Down,’ a painting so unbelievably vibrant, it breathes with a steady neon glow.

Ortiz has no fear in experimenting with style and composition and in pushing beyond the easy, he’s created a body of work that is as inspired as it is beautiful.
