A Brief Look: Tech & Dust, The Art of Ville Ericsson

By Chris Jalufka | 12.12.2013

Swedish artist Ville Ericsson‘s work is an immaculate depiction of the real world mixed with technology. Ericsson’s paintings are a Ralph McQuarrie level of concept art brilliance.

Ericsson brings the minor details of environments into light, giving his paintings the weight of life. The landscapes are vast and used, with the smog of exhaust and an unknown futuristic dust to the surface.

When things appear impossible it’s refreshing to see how they began. I wouldn’t know where to start with building a skyscraper, but seeing cranes hauling beams into the sky make it a little more real.

Ericsson frequently posts his works in progress on his Facebook page, and it’s that glimpse into the impossible that I love.
