A series of fourteen posters have been released for Lars Von Trier’s upcoming film ‘Nymphomaniac.’ Modern film posters are rarely anything to pay attention to, but this series of portraits depicts the films characters at the moment of orgasm — strain and release.
The film follows in Von Trier’s tradition of raw and bold filmmaking. The story follows self diagnosed nymphomaniac Joe (Charlotte Gainsburg) as she tells her history to Stellan Skarsgard’s Seligman after he finds her beaten in an alley.
The posters are in the same school of design as the series of Judd Apatow doofus portrait posters of 40 Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up, minus the blank-dumb glare of Hollywood’s gaggle of comedic yokels.
These posters are some of the most raw and honest images you’ll see of actors Uma Thurman, Christian Slater, and Shia Lebouf. They’re so real that they are easy to mock, but Von Trier is going for something great with this film and its marketing.
