On Saturday, October 9th San Francisco’s Modern Eden Gallery will open its doors for Love, Death, an exhibit by creative duo Ransom & Mitchell. The imagery conjured by Stacey Ransom and Jason Mitchell for Love, Death features hypnotic and alluring figures that exist somewhere beyond death. The figures appear lost at sea, overgrown, trapped in by the organic constraints of the ocean.
Their work combines the digital with the practical — photography and prop design at play with computer graphics and any tool they can use to achieve their creative goal. In this collection, there is a fascination with those pleasures that pull you into the darkness.
From Ransom & Mitchell — “The newest Ransom & Mitchell solo show is inspired by hedonistic statuaries of ancient civilizations lost to rising seas and ill-fated shipwrecks. Our relics, lifted from the metaphoric depths, examine the delicate marriage of sensual pleasure and the dark kiss of death while exploring humanities purest pursuit; the bliss state found at the convergence of sexual delight and the shadowy reaches of mortality. They pay tribute to the elusive state of ultimate nirvana, and the apex moment in the arousing dance of orgasmic mortality. This series is our billet-doux, signed with care, ‘Love, Death.'”
