Los Angeles based publisher Insert Blanc Press is currently hosting Silkscreen is Easy!!!, an exhibit of new work from The Little Friends of Printmaking (JW & Melissa Buchanan). Each print in the collection puts on the display the ease of design and blissed-out spirit that the Buchanans are known for. Along with the exhibit and the limited edition prints, Insert Blanc Press published a 120 page monograph that collects a large swath of the Little Friends printography.
The prints are limited editions of 20 and vary in technique, as JW and Melissa explain, “We’re using monoprint techniques on just about all of these. We used split fountains on most of them as well. Each print is very different, even within the editions. We were looking for something special to do for the gallery, and monoprint seemed like the answer. We tried to come up with designs that could handle the huge variations in color and pattern. We wanted to make each of these prints feel very special, so in addition to the monoprint and split fountain techniques, we also blind embossed our LFOP logo on each of them by hand.”
Silkscreen is Easy!!! is up now through August 22nd at Insert Blanc Press in Los Angeles
