Editorial illustrator Anuj Shrestha‘s work depicts the stress and conflicts of the real world through symbols — the juxtaposition of landscape and figure, of past and future. In his 2019 interview with EVIL TENDER, Shrestha spoke of his illustrations, “I don’t want any of my work to seem didactic even though I hold strong convictions. Specifically, in my fictional work, I think it’s more effective to present ideas and scenarios in clear, concrete ways and let the reader draw their own conclusions. I thought of National Bird as a surreal dream that allegorically connects to real power structures that affect the lived experiences of people living in the U.S.”
On Thursday, October 1st, Anuj Shrestha’s limited edition poster National Bird will be available at the ETDC Shop. Shrestha will have his own signed edition of APs that will come with an original drawing available through his Instagram.
