Throughout 2015 Disney has released the original scores for one dozen of their classic films through the Disney Legacy Collection, an ever-growing catalog of collectible CDs. Each film’s music is packaged in a deluxe hardcover book with extensive liner notes and new artwork created by Disney concept artist Lorelay Bové. Bové wields her brush with confidence and ease — there’s visible delight in her gouache work that fits alongside classic Disney concept artists such as Mary Blair, Gustav Tenggren, and Sam McKim.
Bové has an extensive body of work in the Disney universe with her work for films such as Tangled, Wreck-It Ralph, Big Hero 6, and her concept pieces for The Snow Queen show what Frozen could have been with a dark and more dangerous edge akin to the original fairy tale.
What Bové does as an artist and storyteller is what Disney does best — she captures the heart and internal movement of the characters, with her canvases speaking clearly through shape and color.
