In the few years since graduating from the Ringling School of Art and Design in 2006, illustrator Edward Kinsella has kept himself incredibly busy. Kinsella’s portraits are a sophisticated blend of realism and abstraction — a combination that brings a fresh look when portraying classic subjects like John Ford and his award winning illustration for Mark Twain’s ‘Adventures of Huckleberry Finn‘ for Penguin Classics.
Kinsella’s work has the sense of pieces falling away — what remains of each figure, vital. Kinsella’s work exposes the tenderness inherent to his subjects. Humanity fully on display.
