Miami is currently full of incredible events for Art Basel, and one to add to the list is ‘International Friendship Exhibition‘ from the combined efforts of PRIMARY and FAMILY. On Wednesday December 3rd, Primary will play host the Art Basel reception for their current exhibit.
The show pulls its title from the North Korean museum of the same name — a showcase of banal diplomatic gifts that the government touts to its people as, ‘proof of the endless love and respect toward the Great Leader.’ The show plays with that concept of contradiction — control disguised as love. Aggression in the uniform of intelligence.
‘International Friendship Exhibition‘ brings a group of nineteen artists together to take part in this conversation. Artists include Autumn Casey, Jim Drain, Gavin Perry, Asif Farooq, Magnus Sodamin, Cole Sternberg, Cody Hudson, and Michael Vasquez.

‘For as opposed to it, identity is only the determination of the simple immediate, of dead Being; while contradiction is the root of all movement and life; only insofar as it has a contradiction in itself does anything move…’
— Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, German Philosopher
