Miami based artist Yuri Tuma is a craftsman of deconstruction and reassembly. Tuma photographs the simple elements of our landscape — buildings and cars, plants and trees. With his computer his tears each down to its core and recreates the city and his surroundings into a clockwork of ordered beauty.
Tuma’s final pieces hang like massive kaleidoscopes. By disassembling a photograph, Tuma can find the natural pattern of a building at its base fractal-state. There’s the calm and enthusiasm of discovery in Tuma’s manipulated images. The dirt and grime of a skyscraper is reduced to its most perfect parts of angles and light, patterned into something cell-like and organic.
Tuma brings his next solo show ‘Departure‘ to Miami’s Butter Gallery for Miami Art Fair Week. The exhibit runs from November 6th through January 8th, concurrently with Art Basel.
An artist reception will be held on November 6th with a reception for Miami Art Fair Week | Art Basel on December 2nd.
