For his first solo show, painter and printmaker Andrew Ghrist looked to the Rudyard Kipling classic collection short stories of ‘The Jungle Book‘ as inspiration. There are no animated singing animals in Ghrist’s series of prints — each character study sticks close to Kipling’s tone.
With respect for the source material, Ghrist’s portraits show the same level of reverence for the creatures that Kipling found when he wrote from the Indian jungle.
Chicago’s Galerie F played host to Ghrist’s show ‘Tiger! Tiger!‘ and prints are available at the Galerie F online store.
