A Brief Look: Ash Thorp’s ‘Project 2501’

There’s an incredible pull to any project that designer Ash Thorp takes on. There’s an unlimited supply of creativity in Thorp that percolates, never draining, never going dry. Each project he’s involved in gets a heavy dose of his enthusiasm and energy. It’s a thrill to watch an artist who refuses to do anything other than create.

After the announcement of his ‘Lost Boy‘ project Thorp released images and the video for Project 2501, an homage to the classic anime film ‘Ghost in the Shell.‘ Thorp and a vast crew of creatives paid respect to one of the genre’s greatest achievements by re-imagining the title sequence with the modern tools and filmmaking techniques they have at the ready.

What you see are gorgeously executed images that tap into that future that Shirow Masamune’s manga and Mamoru Oshii’s film gave us.
