‘NONE’ by Ash Thorp & Chris Bjerre

Designer Ash Thorp is a restless creative — there is no such thing as downtime, only time to start something new. Time to play with a new technology and ideas. Explore. In three weeks between projects, Thorp and art director / motion designer Chris Bjerre created the three-minute short film ‘NONE.’

The film is an exercise that Thorp explained in an interview with Motionographer saying, “I had miraculously managed to squeeze in a small break between client assignments. So we felt that this open window would be a perfect opportunity to make something fun together. Since I had recently been exploring some material shaders and fog emulators in Octane (the render engine that I use with Cinema4D), I proposed we play in this world a bit and create a special little short film.”

The final product is a quiet film of a barren city landscape — unreal beauty of shape, darkness and light. A meditation in black and white.
