David Welker x Fugscreens: Art for Charity

‘I think I found a lump.’ A simple phrase that no matter the outcome, can change a life. In early 2016 printmaker and illustrator Zissou Tasseff-Elenkoff of Fugscreens Studios found himself saying those words to his doctor, and after a score of visits, tests, and finally a surgery, the lump was removed only a few weeks ago.

Even though testicular cancer is the most common form of cancer in men between 15 years-old and 35 years-old, it is the one that is rarely discussed. Perhaps the location of the tumor is too embarrassing to speak of, but testicular cancer is one of the most easy to detect, a quick monthly self-examination can be done in minutes. Tasseff-Elenkoff was joined by artist David Welker to raise awareness for testicular cancer through the release of two upcoming poster releases. All money raised will be split evenly between paying off Tasseff-Elenkoff’s hospital bills and the Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation.

From Zissou and David —

Dear Guys and Gals,

Tomorrow afternoon I will be releasing both of my fundraiser prints, one of them being another extremely exciting collaboration with David Welker. I have worked with David over the past three years on some amazing projects, including one of the best shows I’ve ever curated “Lucid Dreamscape”, with him and Brin Levinson. BUT Tomorrow’s drop has a special personal connection for both welker and I, a few weeks ago we decided to come together and produce two prints that would help pay for an unexpected surgery that I underwent three weeks ago. More importantly, we set a goal to try and raise 10k for the http://www.testicularcancerawarenessfoundation.org/ .

Tomorrow at 2pm CST we will be releasing two prints called “Band practice ” and “Playtime”, both will be available only for 24 hours and the proceeds from all the sales will be donated to a wonderful cause that will now and forever be close to my heart. Due to the type of cancer that we are trying to raise money for it often goes unnoticed and unspoken, which is a crying shame as it’s one of the most common cancers found, but for obvious reasons it’s also one of the most taboo. I believe this is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to come together to bring a little awareness and raise funds for something that more people should be talking about.

If you have any interest in joining us in the good fight,

please go to this link https://band-practice.myshopify.com/ at 2pm CST on Wednesday, September 28th

This print drop will be available to anyone and everyone and is not confined to any private group, so please share this post as much as you can and spread the love.

Thank you all so much for your support and generosity; it means the world to me and many others.

 Best,

Zissou and David
